Project Daniel
Food is often the focal point of family and community gatherings. There is nothing like coming together to connect with our friends and family by sharing a wholesome meal. Unfortunately, the community food we eat can sometimes perpetuate unhealthy habits.A Better World has developed an enjoyable way for faith-based community members to learn important health information and make positive changes toward a healthier lifestyles.
Project Daniel provides education on the importance of good nutrition and physical exercise. Some activities include:
- Weekly wellness sessions and fun community activities that promote good health.
- Engaging cooking classes that demonstrate nourishing approaches and tasty, nutritious alternatives to preparing traditional “soul food” and other wholesome meals.
Together, these program components keep friends and family eating well and living healthy.
Outcomes
Through Project Daniel, A Better World has successfully increased awareness of the link between poor eating habits and chronic health diseases. It continues to transform attitudes and behavior, changing lives for the better in over fifty faith communities of various denominations in Chicago and St. Louis.
